NATIVE SOFTWARE / in development

Framecast Studio

One studio. Two formats. Your screen, composed.

The problem.

Screen recordings need different framing for landscape and portrait. A composition tool should make those outputs explicit and editable.

My contribution.

Built native scene composition and media workflows using SwiftUI, AppKit, ScreenCaptureKit and AVFoundation, with separate recording outputs and local control.

How the parts connect.

  1. Scene composition

Separate horizontal and vertical layouts share source inputs with independent framing.

  2. Native media

Screen/camera capture and a timestamped audio mix feed the composition.

  3. Encoded outputs

AVFoundation recording and FFmpeg streaming transport have separate responsibilities.

The decisions.

Two deliberate outputs

Horizontal and vertical compositions keep their own geometry and recording settings.

Own resource lifetimes

Capture permits, cancellation paths and finalization are explicit parts of the media pipeline.

Build, test, deliver.

Development scope

Local implementation reviewed: native composition, separate output canvases, recording and local control. Public source will be linked after publication.

What to keep in mind.

In development and not publicly released in the reviewed source. No public repository or download is advertised.

Broad device compatibility, sustained high-resolution performance and complete broadcast recovery are not established.
